Any Poly Pagans?
We just got called this morning by a writer from the History Channel. They are doing a documentary on wedding customs throughout the world, and want to interview Raven about pagan polyamory. They also wanted to know if they could film a (real or simulated) pagan poly wedding.

So, if you and two or more of your loved ones would like to get married in the next two months and would like to be on the History Channel with Raven running the ceremony, give Raven a call.

ETA: Well, that didn't take long! The Tashlins it is!

Oh, that's pretty neat. I'll give my friends with TVs a heads-up.

...some part of me is amused at the idea that you *could* somehow "simulate" taking three or more unmarried committed persons, summoning the Gods, and marrying them off to one another. Has someone warned the History Channel that very little is "simulated" when it comes to the citizenry of Asphodel? ;)

Oh, see, that's why you summon the Test Loki. If you implement the whole thing in a staging environment, you don't have to push the marriage live at all.

Uh-oh. Here come the documentarians: "Just an innocent little documentary, nothing sensationalistic about it. Of course we won't edit it to vindicate people who think Pagans are crazy and a nebulous threat to marriage and decency..."

*hiding*

Actually, I really hope it goes well, sweetie and I are sometimes like a poly couple of two, (Will two settled Aquarians ever actually get around to further involvements? Good darn question. :) )

Still, a TV appearance, that's a pretty daring undertaking, but I'm sure Raven et all can handle it with great press-savvy. (Did they say what program in particular it is for? It can be a mixed bag. I end up with a lot of documentaries on during the day, and I've been noticing a great deal more Christian-oriented programming and advertising on these channels in the past year.)

I do think a little documentary journalism on Pagan folk is a good idea, tricky as it is to manage... I have recently had cause to reflect just how darn surprised I might have been when I got involved in the 'movement' twenty years ago, if I'd been told we'd be such a household word in the media, and even the bigger religious community out there. I'm hopefully-beginning work on something of a photodoc project, and kind of wishing I'd been an active photographer through more of my own journey... if I'd been seeing the world that way at the time, I suppose.

Also joy and congratulations to the happy... Triple? Quad? :)
